Layla Makhzoumi

Layla Makhzoumi is an Associate at FREEDIN & ROWELL LLP and a member of the firm’s Corporate & Commercial, Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity groups. Layla’s practice focuses on asset and share purchase transactions, shareholder and partnership agreements, drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements and general corporate matters.

Before joining FREEDIN & ROWELL LLP, Layla practiced as a corporate associate at a national firm in downtown Toronto and as corporate legal counsel at a Big 4 accounting firm. Layla received her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree from McGill University and her J.D. From Western University. Prior to law school, Layla worked as an analyst at a Big 5 Canadian Bank.

Prior to being called to the bar, Layla worked with Pro Bono Students Canada on education projects for newcomers to Canada and served as Chair of the Diversity Committee at Western Law.

Outside of work, Layla enjoys playing Pickleball, exploring new restaurants and cheering on her beloved Chelsea FC.
